The outright lap record stands at 1:44.701, set by Sergio Perez for Red Bull Racing in 2024. That is 7.004 km and 19 turns, flat out.
At 7.004 km Spa is by far the longest circuit on the Formula 1 calendar and has the biggest elevation change at over 102 metres, cutting through the Ardennes forest on a layout descended from public roads first used in 1921. Its microclimate is notorious: the lap is long enough that one end of the circuit can be soaked while the other stays dry.
The multicolour finish
The full ribbon of the lap runs through a graduated multicolour NEON LED, shifting hue as it traces the circuit.
