The outright lap record stands at 1:16.627, set by Lewis Hamilton for Mercedes in 2020. That is 4.381 km and 14 turns, flat out.
Built in 1985, the Hungaroring hosted the first Formula 1 Grand Prix held behind the Iron Curtain in 1986. Its 14 mostly slow and medium-speed corners with almost no straights have earned it the nickname 'Monaco without the walls', where track position outweighs raw pace.
The multicolour finish
The full ribbon of the lap runs through a graduated multicolour NEON LED, shifting hue as it traces the circuit.
