Yas Marina staged Formula 1's first day-to-night race in 2009 and is one of the few anticlockwise circuits on the calendar, running past a working marina and under a colour-shifting hotel. It was rebuilt for 2021 - cut from 21 corners to 16, with a banked Turn 9 and a faster marina section - and that same season delivered the sport's most contentious finale, the Hamilton-Verstappen title decided on the last lap after a disputed safety car restart.
