Norris is a Valentino Rossi fan and considered 46, but did not want to be a "copycat". His own junior numbers, 11 and 31, were already taken when he reached Formula 1. He settled on 4 partly for design reasons: it sat cleanly inside his personal logo. IMPORTANT: as reigning World Champion he runs #1 in 2026; 4 remains his personal permanent number.
